无线点系统其实就是超小型蜂窝基站,为了帮助运营商有效解决移动通信室内覆盖的诸多问题(个人觉得主要是为了解决LTE MIMO的问题),爱立信点系统重新定义了小蜂窝。爱立信点系统非常小巧,可提供灵活的安装方式,这些点通过标准局域网( LAN )电缆(5/6/7 类)连接和供电,连接至射频单元,射频单元则与基站链路连接。

该设备仅重300克,直径只有10厘米,覆盖半径可达到600-800米。该系统汇集了爱立信的14项专利支持,包括系统架构、安装、软小区理念以及提升产品性能的先进技术。

系统架构


(1)无线点 - Radio Dot (Dot)

– 有源天线(射频+天线),10cm直径,300克,全向天线

– 2x50mw, 2x2MIMO, 40MHz IBW

– 唯一的接口以太/局域网线提供无线信号和供电(CAT5,6,7 )

– 一个Dot支持同一频段内WCDMA + LTE 混合模式

(2)室内无线单元 - Indoor Radio Unit (IRU)

– 全频段设计,可连接8个Dot

– 软件远程更新

– 无线点集中供电

(3)数字单元 - Digital Unit (DU)

– 池组化的基带资源

– 与RBS 6000 一致的基带硬件和软件

– 与3GPP同一的 演进路线 - 与宏站统一的功能性能支持

– 最大支持连接12个IRU,一个LTE+WCDMA基带单元组合支持最大 48 Radio Dots

 

其中,DU和BBU一样,都是基站基带单元。爱立信的RDS系统的IRU与RD之间传输的是中频信号。

Ericsson Radio Dot System is re-defining the small-cell market with scalable functionality, simple installation, and integration with outdoor networks.

The new Radio Dot System is designed to extend that mobile broadband capacity, both 3G and LTE, into enterprise buildings and public venues. The visible element of the Ericsson Radio Dot System, known as the Dot, is sleek and compact, to blend in with any indoor environment.

it's more than an antenna but less than a femtocell as it relies on an in-building base station to process the signalling, but takes care of the radio stack itself. With weighing only 300g the Dot is styled to disappear into the office décor. Using Ethernet Cat 5, 6, or 7 for the last few metres should make installation easier, however it is recommended to use dedicated cables rather than sharing the office infrastructure.

Indoor environments pose special challenges for service providers. Current indoor solutions present complexity, scalability and service continuity limitations that can restrict the user experience. Distributed Antenna System (DAS) are built mainly for voice coverage in very large buildings and venues and are expensive to upgrade to meet the growing capacity demands of mobile data.

At the other end of the spectrum, most residential and small business or venue requirements are addressed by the outside-in effect of the outdoor macro or micro. As building size increases along with the numbers of highly mobile users, a new solution needs to provide coverage scalability, interference and handover capabilities.

The Ericsson Radio Dot System leverages the same industry-leading features found in Ericsson's macro base station, including Carrier Aggregation and Combined Cell for WCDMA and LTE. Deployments and upgrades are simple, addressing growing capacity and coverage requirements.

The user experience is consistent wherever they go and the indoor network evolves in lockstep with the outdoor network. Ericsson Radio Dot System also supports integration with Ericsson's carrier Wi-Fi portfolio enabling features such as real-time traffic steering to ensure the best user experience across both Wi-Fi and 3GPP networks.
